Making connections with each other and the collective consciousness is part of the human condition. Consequently, like minds often gravitate toward each other, sometimes making for quite a quilt of quirkiness. (Think ComicCon, Dr. Spock!) In that vein, below are some links to resources, people, and places of interest if you’re the kind of person who might be taken by the mystique of folktales and legends of the Hudson Valley or early American history. Feel free to browse, and even freer to live long and prosper, in or out of costume.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving
To get the most out of my novel, Bones, read Washington Irving's classic American tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, first!
A map of Old Sleepy Hollow that will help orient you to this haunted Hudson Valley region.
Hudson Valley Historical Society
Please support this organization. It is a wonderful and necessary part of keeping American and Hudson Valley history alive. Not to mention, its annual Halloween events and celebrations are spookily spectacular, most likely due to the Headless Horseman being on the Society’s payroll.
Jonathan Kruk, professional storyteller
This guy can spin a yarn, especially when it comes to Hudson Valley lore, like "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." You can check him out on YouTube, too.
